Michelle's Exploring Art in Studio C
Exploring Art interactive workshop using multiple media, with instructor Michelle Allman. For the beginning or more experienced artist, this broad study of the arts includes composition, drawing and painting. Discussion is welcome and helps to provide a solid groundwork in the application and experience of the arts. Class is meeting in small studio area so size is limited to 3 students.

Explore the versatility of watercolor with a sense of play and experimentation. Learn techniques that encourage a natural extension of individual sensitivity. Topics include introduction to watercolor, recognition and execution of good design and composition, right-brain techniques, and reinforcement of creative imagination. Sessions are on Tuesdays.

This ongoing art course offers a flow / grow / glow experience for all levels, from beginning to advanced students who appreciate the right-brain approach to artistic expression. Personal exploration and discovery are encouraged to unlock your unconscious creative energies. The course begins with contour drawing and evolves to the elements of painting composition – line, shape, color, value, and texture. You will receive individual guidance, work at your own pace and arrive at your own style. Students may paint in either oil or acrylics. Classes are on Thursdays.

Paint for Exploration!
This exciting class will introduce and explore specialized techniques that can inspire new directions or be incorporated into your current work. This hands on experimental 8 week class is composed of 4 integrated 2 week workshops. Each segment will focus on a different set of processes and materials that can be used independently or combined to produce exciting individual pieces. You will learn the basic skills of working with these versatile materials. Classes will include demos, instructed studio time and some information of the historic uses of these materials and techniques. Experience something new and get inspired! Classes are on Fridays.

The second show of the very popular Jazz Muse Concert Series will be on Saturday, May 12th. Entitled "Three for the Road: Songs of the Cinema," the
concert presents great jazz compositions from the movies. It features award-winning vocalist Janis Mann, Grammy-winner Bill Cunliffe on piano, and
world-renowned guitarist Larry Koonse for an intimate evening of scintillating music. Doors open at 7:00 pm so you can see the upcoming
"Call of the Wild" exhibit and the show will start at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and $15 for students. Appetizers, wine and beer will be served. The last concert was a full house, so be sure to get there early.

Entry will be by digital photos at Online Juried Shows. The exhibit is open to all artists in a wide variety of 2D and 3D mediums. Artists in any location in the US are welcome to enter. Membership in CAL is not required.
