To celebrate the ninth concert in our Jazz Muse Series we are bringing in from New York the world-renowned jazz pianist and composer Kenny Werner. Kenny’s playing is revered at the level of masters like Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea. His book “Effortless Mastery” is a classic among both established and aspiring musicians. A collaborative recording with Janis Mann, “Celestial Anomaly,” was a chart topper on national jazz radio. Kenny toured for 25 years with the great Toots Thielemans. He worked and/or recorded with Betty Buckley, Lee Konitz, Archie Shepp, Chris Potter, Dave Douglas and many others. He also records and performs with his own trio featuring Ari Hoenig and Johannes Weidenmueller. Kenny received a Guggenheim Fellowship for his album “No Beginning No End.”
Kenny will be playing a stunning Mason & Hamlin Semi-Concert Grand Piano which is being graciously donated for this concert by Hollywood Piano Company of Burbank. Many thanks to David Anderson for making this happen.
Jazz Muse host vocalist Janis Mann will be joining Kenny along with a bevy of all-star musicians: guitarist Larry Koonse, bassist Darek Oles, and drummer Roy McCurdy.
Doors open at 7:00 pm so you can socialize and enjoy the new Collage Artists of America exhibit – “Trash Talk.”
The show will start at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and $15 for students.
