Seattle-based, international jazz star Greta Matassa joins Janis Mann at the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center in Tarzana on Saturday, August 18, 2018 for a very special show that pairs two great jazz vocal improvisers. It is a rare treat to experience these two artists together for the next Jazz Muse Concert Series.
Accompanying the two vocalists will be the world class trio of Grammy-winner Bill Cunliffe on piano, Bruce Lett on bass, and Roy McCurdy on drums.
Doors open at 7:00 pm so you can socialize and enjoy the Art of Creative Aging Exhibit. The show will start at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and $15 for students. Appetizers, wine and beer will be served. Get here early for the best seats.
The following day, Sunday, August 19, Greta and Janis will be conducting a Jazz Vocal Workshop at the Center from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. We still have auditor spots available for this workshop at $20. Singers and anyone interested in jazz should consider joining us. This is an unusual joint approach from two top jazz vocalists and educators. There will be some audience/auditor participation opportunities and panel discussion as well as individual critiques of 8 aspiring jazz singers. Many times the most information reaches the auditors because they can record, take notes, etc!
