The San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center (SFVACC) presents “Uncommon Threads II”, a fiber, quilting and weaving exhibit from 2 local organizations – Surface Art Association and Frayed Edges.  This exhibit was so popular last year that we’ve decided to do it again!  Each organization will display their fiber art in ½ of the gallery.  This extraordinary exhibit brings together 30 artists for what will be an artistic journey through fiber, fabrics, woven threads and more.  The often-said quote for these artists is “Off the bed and onto the wall” which has redefined quilt art from functional to fun!  This exhibit includes both 2D and 3D art.  All art is for sale unless stated “NFS” – Not for Sale on the label.

Artists for Frayed Edges are Susanne Belcher, Sharon Brooks, Victoria Daniel, Joan Foster, Kim Foster, Susan Gesundheit, Carole Gillin, Lee Goldberg, Sylvia Goulden, Susan Kuss, Harriett Lahana, Rachelle Mark, Nicki Newfield, Gayle Plessner and Carla Simonian.

Artists for Surface Art Association are Naila Aladin Sanders, Celeste Covas, Maureen Cox, Cicely Gilman, Guila Greer, Sandy Harper, Marie-Laure Ilie, Leone Keegan, Smadar Knobler, Sue Langham, Dassi Pintar, Linda Roletti, Diana Shore, Linda Stone and Earllene Weiss.

The exhibit opens on Tuesday, December 5 and closes on Saturday, December 23, 2017.  An artists’ reception will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  The reception, as well as the exhibit are free and open to the public.  We will also be highlighting our “Marketplace” filled with smaller art items for sale which are perfect for holiday gift-giving.  Everything for sale is locally handmade.

The SFVACC is located at 18312 Oxnard Street in Tarzana, just east of Reseda Blvd. near Etiwanda Ave.  It is directly across from the Metro Orange line parking lot, near the Reseda Station.  Parking is in the rear lot beyond the alley.  Please do not park in front of any of the industrial doors in the courtyard.  There is parking along Etiwanda Ave. as well.  The SFVACC is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.
