October 2018 at the SFVACC

October brings a host of great events - The California Art League Exhibit "Fantasy", a full slate of art courses beginning October 1, workshops, meetings and a fabulous evening of Jazz on October 20, presented by the Janis Mann Quintet featuring Ernie Watts.  Artists - don't forget to enter your artwork in Art Across the Valley - entry remains open through October.

2018 is a Banner Year for SFVACC

It's official!  Our 15 double-Unit banners will be installed toward the end of November.  It took quite a bit of negotiation to secure the right streetlights, but there will be at least 6 banners along Reseda between Oxnard and Hatteras and also along the south side of Oxnard between Reseda and Lindley.  Thanks to our 15 artists who have been so patient with all of this.  The banners will be up for at least a year and we are hoping that they will guide more visitors to our Center.

Artist Co-op 7 Fall 2018 Courses are underway!

The Fall 2018 Courses are:

  • "Right Brain Figure Drawing" -  8 weeks with Susan Gesundheit

  • "Watercolor Painting" - 8 weeks with Jeanne Hahn & Margaret Burnett

  • "Painting & Drawing" - 11 weeks with Cecile Miranda, Debbi Saunders & Terri Candelario-Oates

Calling all Volunteers!

2018 will bring about a new concept in sitting at the Center.  We will be putting together a team of professional docents to watch over the Center during our exhibits.  These docents will be trained in everything they need to know about running the Center and being a welcoming representative behind the reception desk. Organizations can also have their members keep our professional docents company, if they so wish.  We will need to fill thirty 3-hour shifts during each of our 3-week exhibits and forty 3-hour shifts during out 4-week exhibits in 2018.  So think about joining our team and immerse yourself in all that creative energy at the Center!
